Compassionate Care Home
Hospice of the Foothills offers several unique volunteer opportunities in the Compassionate Care Home (CCH).
Whether sharing a musical talent, offering healing touch therapy, softening grief with a spiritual care session, or simply being a friendly visitor by a patient’s bedside, your talents are unique to you and bring comfort into the lives of our patients and their families.
Becoming a Hospice of the Foothills volunteer is an important commitment.
We ask that volunteers serve a minimum of one year and dedicate an average of 1-4 hours per week to patient support. We require volunteers to complete our professional training and to attend at least two monthly in-services per year. These in-services are offered monthly for continuing education.
Hospice of the Foothills will provide training and support for volunteers in the role of Direct Patient Support Volunteer. Our training consists of four, six hour sessions held on Mondays and Wednesdays over a two week period each Spring and Fall. Training provides information about the hospice philosophy and concept, guidelines and practical skills, and gives volunteers the confidence to stay with a patient while their caregiver takes a break. After training, volunteers are assigned to work with patients and their families within a geographical area convenient for the volunteer. Our Volunteer Coordinator is always available for support, encouragement, and guidance.
