Gift & Thrift -Receiver/Processor – Non-Driver

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:  Greets customers and receives donation of goods, presorts donations/processes donated items, assists customers in unloading/loading heavy items.

Primary Department:  Gift and Thrift & Distribution Center

Reporting Relationship: Store Manager

Position Type:  Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited

Salary Grade – 1  (Wage Range  $11.30 – $15.64)

Job Details and Essential Functions:

  •  Greets customers, receives donated goods, unloads and loads heavy items, presorts goods, and provides written receipt upon requ
  • Cleans and checks donated items for proper operating condition; performs minor repair
  • Sort items to be distributed to other HOF Gift & Thrift stores and HOF Distribution Center.
  • Maintains receiving area in a clean, safe manner; performs some custodial duties.
  • Able to lift and move heavy items over 25lbs consistently throughout the day.
  • Observes all HOF safety policies and procedures requireme
  • Attends all safety meetings and training session
  • Trains volunteers in receiving area and safety
  • Is available to modify work schedule and duties as directed by Store Managers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills


  • One year minimum experience in warehousing, retail stores, or thrift stores.
  • Basic computer skills in: MS Office (Outlook, MS Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work as a team member, to develop and maintain positive working relationships including problem resolution within an organization, community and with a diverse work force.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, volunteers, agencies and the general public.

Education & Experience


  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year experience in retail and/or warehouse receiving


  • One year experience in a donation center/ thrift store receiving

License / Certifications


  • Possesses and maintains a valid California Driver’s License, and evidence of appropriate liability insurance.
