Hospice Services Healthcare Providers Donations Become a Volunteer

Donors are an essential element of the Hospice of the Foothills team. Without the generous donations from community Hospice of the Foothills could not afford to serve as many patients or offer the quantity and quality of services we have today. our

While Medicare, Medi-cal and private insurance reimburse Hospice for some of the costs associated with caring for patients, they do not cover all the costs incurred by Hospice. For example, prescription drugs are covered at a fixed dollar amount per patient per day. That amount in many cases isn't enough to pay for the cost of the actual medications Hospice provides to their patients. The difference must be made up by donations from our community.

There are many ways to donate to Hospice.
A direct donation to Hospice is a beautiful way to honor the memory of a loved one and also help Hospice to continue providing a service that will assist others in need.

Make a Donation
Hospice accepts direct donations, donations in Memory or in Honor of a loved one and donations to the Hospice Endowment Fund. The Hospice Endowment fund is a special endowment that has been set up for Hospice of the Foothills. If you make a donation to the Hospice Endowment fund your donation will be added to the principal in the fund and only the interest will be used by Hospice of the Foothills as part of their yearly operating budget or for capital expenditures. The principal will remain whole and will continue providing Hospice of the Foothills with a source of income in future years.

Planned Giving
Planned gifts to Hospice offer an excellent way to combine charitable giving with sound financial planning. In fact, you may be able to support Hospice of the Foothills at a higher level than you thought possible and still realize financial and/or tax benefits for yourself or someone you designate.

Someone who cannot afford to make a large donation now may be able to make a significant planned gift. Planned gifts are generally not made out of ordinary income. They come from assets such as real estate, securities or insurance.

Planned gifts qualify as charitable contributions and are tax deductible under income, gift and estate tax laws. Planned gifts of assets that have increased in value may offer the opportunity to reduce or eliminate capital gains tax. For many people increased tax benefits are a significant incentive to making planned gifts.

There are many strategies for realizing the maximum benefits from planned giving. This chart suggests some of the possible strategies and the benefits associated with each one. Hospice of the Foothills will work with you and your estate planner to help you chose the most effective way for you to make a planned gift.

To request more information or to make a planned gift to Hospice of the Foothills please call our Executive Director Vanessa Bengston at (530) 272-5739 or send an email.
