A Changing of the Guard at Hospice of the Foothills

February 7, 2018

The Board of Directors of Hospice of the Foothills (HOF) is pleased to announce that Vivian Tipton has been selected as the incoming Executive Director to replace Carolynn Peterson, whose contract concludes at the end of January. Ms. Peterson has been with HOF for the past four years, initially serving in the role of interim Director of Patient Care Services, and then as Executive Director for the past three years. “We are grateful for Carolynn’s 40+ years of nursing and leadership experience which provided her the expertise to make necessary and difficult changes to the organization during challenging times,” said Valerie Logsdon, Elder Law Attorney and current Board President. Carolynn’s list of accomplishments while at the helm are extensive, but her most significant legacy is restoring the financial health of the organization to ensure HOF is poised to serve the community well into the future.

Vivian Tipton joins HOF following a 25-year career with Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital (SNMH), most recently as the Mission Integration Director. Ms. Tipton is a certified black belt in Lean Six Sigma, a well-known reengineering and process improvement technique.  The last six years of her SNMH career were spent working with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to maximize patient flow and satisfaction, with an emphasis on staying connected to the corporate purpose and mission. “I’m excited about starting this new chapter in my life,” said Ms. Tipton.  “Hospice is a natural continuum of care for many of the hospital’s patients.  I look forward to utilizing my knowledge and experience to further develop the collaboration between Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and Hospice of the Foothills,” she concluded.

Please join us in welcoming Vivian Tipton to the HOF family. You’re sure to see her as she represents Hospice of the Foothills at future community events.
